About us

Part of Salcombe's high street since 1981.

P. W. & J. Coleman’s first opened its doors in 1981 and has been part of the fabric of Salcombe’s historic high street ever since.

Owner Paul and son Matthew pride themselves on offering an experience which combines friendly, knowledgeable service with the highest quality meats from farms across Devon and Cornwall.

The Colemans are continuing a long tradition of butchery in the family, dating back to the 1800s. Paul began working in his local butcher shop in Birmingham aged 15, following his father, grandfather and great-grandfather into the trade. Two decades ago, his son Matthew became the fifth generation butcher in the family.

This pedigree means P. W. & J. Coleman’s is second-to-none when it comes to knowledge of its products and standard of service.
